I’m a pianist, DMus and a university lecturer in the DocMus Doctoral School of the Sibelius Academy, in the University of the Arts Helsinki. I teach piano, supervise artistic doctoral students’ theses, run courses and develop the artistic doctoral education. My artistic interest focuses on Karol Szymanowski’s piano music. I’m recording his whole output for piano solo for Alba Records. In my program Open Artist & Dear Audience I study artist’s relationship with the audience and the society. Here you find also my blog Pianist Writing where I share my ideas and questions on the art music, the artisthood and the academic work.
About the ‘Open Artist & Dear Audience’ program
With several projects Open Artist & Dear Audience program acts in the interface between the artist and the audience. The goal of this program is to open up and demystify the concept of ‘an artist’ as well as to map out new research topics in the area of interaction. A special interest is a performer’s relationship with the audience and the society. I’m also interested in increasing the discussion on these topics in the musical education in general, not exclusively on doctoral level. From 2008 Open Artist & Dear Audience has widened the supply of the courses in the Sibelius-Academy.
